DIY Natural Sunscreen

Use this DIY Natural Sunscreen to protect your skin and nourish it at the same time.
Prep Time 5 mins
Total Time 1 hr

  • 1 Bowl (Pyrex)
  • 1 Pot or Double Boiler
  • Measuring cup
  • Spatula

  • 1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Shea Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Avocado Oil
  • 2 TBSPN Non-Nano Zinc Oxide
  • 3-5 Drops Doterra Frankincense Essential Oil
  • 3-5 Drops Doterra Lavender Essential Oil
  • 3-5 Drops Doterra Hawaiian Sandalwood Essential Oil

  • Combine the coconut oil, avocado oil and shea butter in a glass pyrex bowl and place it on top of a pot of boiling water so that the ingredients can melt down.
  • Be sure to shut the heat off. (You can also use a double boiler).
Once melted, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool down for a couple of hours.
  • After it has cooled off then add 2 tablespoons of the zinc oxide and Doterra’s essential oils to it.
  • Blend thoroughly with a silicone spatula. Place in a glass jar and store in the fridge so that it can solidify.

This recipe will give you an SPF 25-30.  The more non-nano zinc oxide you add the higher the spf.
This sunscreen has a shelf life of one year.
Do NOT use citrus oils during the summer months or sun bathing as citrus oils are photosensitive.
